Self Harm

Self harm is used as way to cope with difficult emotions, thoughts and experiences.

For many it is a way to survive.

You may want to reduce your self harming behaviour or stop all together, whatever

you feel is right for you at this time is your choice and is respected.

In counselling we can address what you want.

The following aspects can be looked at:

  • understanding the function of self harm in your life
  • your relationship with your self
  • Safety
  • Empowerment and responsibility
  • Coping strategies

“I’ve stopped cutting myself so much and so often.

I’ve learned how to distract myself when I feel like I might

do it again, and I am learning to forgive myself.”
